Suzuki launches all-new electric scooter with Burgman, claims future of urban mobility

The journey of electrifying the automobile industry has shown some promising entries. The two well-known two-wheeler brands that have joined the

Electric Scooter

market are Bajaj and TVS. Honda just revealed that two new electric bikes will be introduced in India in 2023. Additionally, Yamaha intends to introduce electric scooters at the same moment. Suzuki appears to have their first electric bike ready by then as well.

The e-Burgman, a brand-new advancement in the world of electric two-wheelers, has been unveiled by Suzuki Motor Corporation. Burgman's first formal pictures and technical specifications are now available. The e-Burgman, which has already undergone spying tests in India, will now move on to advanced testing in Tokyo, Japan.

The Burgman electric scooter is part of a broader initiative in Japan to encourage battery sharing and expand the use of e2Ws. Suzuki is collaborating with the Tokyo-based battery-sharing business

Gachaco Co

., Ltd. Eight Burgman electric scooters will be used in field experiments that will last three months, from April to June 2023. Staff members from Suzuki Motor Corporation and customers who register will take part in the field tests. Tests will assist in gathering crucial information while performing regular tasks like travelling, attending class, and shopping. To create the production-spec Burgman Electric Scooter, data will be used.

It is a Class-2 light electric scooter with remarkable specifications. Suzuki's e-Burgman has a range of up to 44 kilometres on a single charge when driven steadily at 60 kilometres per hour. It has a 0.98kW nominal output, a 4.0kW maximum output, and an 18Nm maximum torque. The following measurements apply to 1,825mm in length, 765mm in breadth, 1,140mm in height, and 780mm in seat height. The vehicle weighs 147 kg at the curb. It has a lithium-ion battery and a synchronous AC motor for electricity.

In addition to Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., and Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Suzuki is a member of the Swappable Battery Consortium for Electric Scooters. The consortium is attempting to standardise replacement devices and swappable batteries. A major step towards expanding the use of electric two-wheelers in Japan and battery sharing. Common specifications were taken from the technical document TP21003. For swappable batteries that address worries about drive range and charging time, development standards have been adjusted. The consortium has also been working with e-Yan OSAKA on field experiments to encourage the use of electric scooters.

Riders who are concerned about the environment will have more choices for transportation as battery-sharing solutions become more widely available and dependable. The big four in Japan have a promising future as they collaborate to expand the use of electric scooters both domestically and internationally. The new Burgman Electric scooter is anticipated to debut in India sometime in 2019. It will compete with the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and the forthcoming Honda Activa Electric once it is released. The price of the Suzuki Burgman

EV

could be around Rs 1.5 lakh.
