The East Coast Road coastline south of Chennai is one of the easiest beach getaways in Tamil Nadu. Just a couple of hours down a scenic highway, no flights and no long drives, and you’re at the sea. More familiar as ECR, it runs from Chennai through Mahabalipuram and on toward Pondicherry, and along the way it’s built up a real mix of resorts, private villas, seaside restaurants and small attractions worth stopping for.
