The Floki Inu coin was first introduced on June 25, 2021, when Elon Musk announced that he will be calling his Shiba Inu puppy "Floki." The original name for the coin was Floki Inu, a dog-themed meme coin similar to Dogecoin. However, as the project evolved from a meme-coin to something more genuine, the team changed its name to "Floki."
