Consider what should be improved before purchasing or developing an enterprise dashboard. A chart-filled screen is hardly a strategy. First, who will use it on a daily basis—finance, team heads, or owners? Which three figures are the most concerning to you? Go there first. Third, trace each figure back to where it is stored and confirm someone owns its accuracy. Fourth, align the decision with the update rhythm. While slower-moving things can wait, faster-moving ones require regular refreshes. Fifth, when a number becomes red, what will someone do? The dashboard is merely decorative if you are unable to respond to the fifth question. Good ones promote action as opposed to merely awareness. Keep things simple and conduct an evaluation every month.
