'Game of Thrones' Now return for a second season of episodic video games

    Category: Games

Winter is coming, and so is a second season of interactive Game of Thrones episodes from the good folks at Telltale Games. The first season of Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series concluded with its sixth episode, "The Ice Dragon," on Nov. 17. We'll spare you the spoilers, but in true Game of Thrones fashion, many questions lingered when the credits finally rolled. A second season seemed assured, especially since the series was originally announced as a multi-year partnership, and now it's official. Telltale CEO and co-founder Kevin Bruner confirmed the continuing story in a chat with The Hollywood Reporter. "After this week's finale, I'm pleased to officially confirm that there will be a second season of Telltale's Game of Thrones series and that it's currently in development," Bruner said. "The questions left on the table at the conclusion of season one — who survived and who didn't — as well as all the other choices you made play a huge role in the second season," he added. "We've been planning the second season all along, but I really shouldn't be revealing more than that." Telltale's take on Westeros is actually an adaptation of an adaptation, connecting directly with HBO's popular series rather than George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire books, which inspired them both. Familiar characters and likenesses (and the voices of actors who play them, in many cases) popped up throughout the game's first season, though the story follows a family that hasn't (yet) factored into the TV series. Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series spanned the length of 2015, with the first episode having launched in December 2014 and the rest following in February, March, May, July and November of this year, respectively. There's no word on when season two will launch, or if Telltale will work to reduce the wait between episodes as the recent Minecraft: Story Mode has done. Telltale Games has developed a reputation as the "HBO of video games" thanks to its choice-driven episodic stories that are marked by strong writing and mature themes. Previous successes include games set in the Walking Dead and Fables comic book universes, and the Back to the Future and Jurassic Park film universes. In addition to Game of Thrones and Minecraft, Telltale has a new Walking Dead story coming out soon — before the end of 2015, based on all announcements so far — that focuses on the character Michonne. Further out, the studio has has a Marvel collaboration in the works. It won't surface until 2017 at the earliest, but you can bet it'll connect in some way with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's not clear when Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series will return, but fans looking for answers after this week's season finale will be happy enough to know that closure is definitely coming. - See more at: http://www.khanstory.com/2015/11/game-of-thrones-now-return-for-second.html#sthash.bgMatjC3.dpuf
