•Before introducing grower birds, the grower house must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. •Make sure there are enough floor space, feeding space, and water space. •In the case of a deep-litter system, spread the litter material to a height of 4". •In the grower house, set up poultry feeders and waterers. •Adapt the feeder and waterer to the situation. •To avoid puller fattening and early sexual maturity, and thus improved egg production, use a restricted feeding programme during the growing period. •To avoid diseases like coccidiosis, practise proper litter management. •In the case of open-sided houses, only a 12-hour lighting programme is needed. There is no requirement for artificial light. •Attempt to keep the flock uniform. According to the breeder's recommendations, sample weights are taken once a week to determine the average body weight. •Follow all vaccination, medication, and other management programmes for growers, such as deworming, debeaking, and so on, to the letter. It is used by layers or breeders during their growing period. Restricted feeding can be divided into two categories. 1) Feed restriction on a quantitative basis- When the amount of food fed to the birds is reduced below their normal requirements. This can be done daily, or as a skip-a-day or skip-two-days-in-a-week programme. However, this restriction is contingent on the flock's average body weight matching the breeder's standard body weight. 2) Feed restriction with a focus on quality- When the quality of the feed is reduced below the bird's minimum requirements. This can be accomplished by substituting unusual feeds or lower-nutrient feed ingredients for high-protein or high-energy diets. During a restricted feeding programme, provide a larger number of feeders and make sure that all of the birds are eating at the same time; otherwise, dominant birds will eat more and the weaker birds will go hungry, affecting uniformity. Benefits of Feed Restriction during the Growing Period- Feed restriction during the growing period has many Benefits. •Because only 80% of the calculated feed requirement will be offered, there will be a significant cost savings. •Even when fed ad libitum during the laying period, they are likely to consume less feed per dozen eggs. •The pullets store less fat and produce more eggs as a result. •During feed restriction, it is easier to identify weaker birds at a young age. Culling such birds not only saves feed but also improves layer house survival by attracting healthier birds to the laying house. •Layers who were fed a restricted diet during the growing period produced heavier eggs and had longer clutches than those who were fed ad libitum. Uniformity management Consider the following factors to achieve uniformity among growing pullets: •Get a batch of uniformly sized chicks. •Provide sufficient food, water, and floor space. •Adapt the feeder and waterer to the age of the animal. •The height of the feeder and waterer should be equal to the bird's back height. •Provide enough energy in the diet. •At regular intervals, sample weights of the pullets are taken, and the feed is adjusted accordingly. •Provide sufficient feeding space so that all birds can eat at the same time.
