An SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate is a form of digital certificate meant for authenticating a website’s identity. This certificate allows communication that is encrypted, between the browser of the user and the web server. In today’s digital landscape, SSL has evolved into TLS (Transport Layer Security), however the term “SSL certificate” is still in use and preferred over TLS.
