    We are made up of protein. Proteins are the building blocks of our body. Each and a single, major or minor component of our body including hormones, enzymes, neurotransmitters etc are composed of proteins. Proteins are made from a variety of molecules of amino acids. There are two types of amino acids. Essential amino acids, these are not synthesized in our body so we depend on the outer sources to get these, and non-essential amino acids those are synthesized inside our body so we do not require to get them from the sources out.Protein in our diet comes principally from the foods from animal origin such as meat, eggs, fish, milk and milk products. We have some protein rich foods from plants origin as well such as grams, pulses, nuts, some of cereals and millets.
