Swift is the new programming language used in developing applications for Mac OS and iOS, introduced by Apple in 2014. Swift is not, at present a replacement for Objective-C. Swift, which was announced at WWDC 2014, is a successor to the Objective-C programming language for iOS and OS X, and it provides new, cleaner, and more robust tools for developing applications.
