Lifelong Discoverer

I would like to use this blog as a way to explore the small things I wonder about in my day-to-day life. I will use this blog as a reason to explore more, and a reason to investigate more .That book is Daniel J Boorstin’s “The Discoverers.” This 1983 work is a chronicling of the accomplishments of his hero, “Man, the Discoverer… The countless Columbus’s” that opened up the world. The book wanders from subject to subject, cataloging different conquests mankind has made, from coming to measure time, to making our way to the new world, to splitting the atom. The 82 chapter book answers questions that many people didn’t know there were answers for. In his impressive detailing of man’s discoveries, Boorstin displays the same curiosity that the subjects in his book posess. In publishing The Discoverers, Boorstin himself becomes a Discoverer. Boorstin’s book has always been an inspiration to me. He calls us to know and remember all of the people that, through curiosity and courage, brought us the world that we live in today. My hopes for the “Lifelong Discoverer blog” is that I too become a discoverer.
