When Bitcoin as a concept was new and in its early days, to own it was simple: you had one wallet and one private key. But, as digital assets grew into a multi-trillion-dollar industry, having a market size of $6.6B estimated this year, the same simplicity became a deadly weakness. If a single key is lost, funds are gone forever; if it is stolen, then the owner has no recourse. For any business or serious investor who relies on one person or one device to guard millions in assets, it is always at an unacceptable risk. This is the main reason why the world is moving towards distributed security models.
