Blog written by Living Space Design. The brown rings you see on your toilet bowl may be caused by a high concentration of minerals mainly iron, manganese or limescale compounds. The staining comes from hard water which contains these particles as well as lime scale build-up at the bottom; for both problems though-- EVAP units (evaporation) and lime residue left behind after boiling -the same thing happens: when we evaporate waters containing lots para –transition metals their molecules jump into small pieces called vapor bubbles before they melt back together again leaving behind dirt trapped inside those beautiful little holes known scientifically simply "rings."
