It has been demonstrated that this drug lessens symptoms and retards the development of disease. Azathioprine (Imuran), which is offered in generic form, received FDA approval in 1969. Usually, one dose is taken at night. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, mouth sores, hair loss, and skin rash are typical adverse reactions.
