Special Marriage Act, 1954 provides for the provision of court marriages in India. The Act provides validity of the marriages between persons belonging to different castes, religion, place of birth, race, etc without any discrimination. A court marriage could be understood as a marriage solemnised according to the procedure provided by the law.
