    What is the Use of Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir Tablets?

    Sofosbuvir and velpatasvir are both used in combination with each other for the treatment of Hepatitis C (HCV). They are together also known as Epclusa. Sofosbuvir is a nucleotide polymerase inhibitor as it functions by blocking the action of RNA polymerase. Consequently, it stops the viral replication. Velpatasvir on the other hand is an HCV replication complex inhibitor. Both medication stop or slows down the viral replication and hence, slows down the infection. Sofosbuvir and Velpatasvir Tablets are taken orally daily for twelve weeks and they can be taken with or without a meal. Some of the precautions one should keep in mind while using sofosbuvir and velpatasvir – { Sofosbuvir and velpatasvir can cause an allergic reaction in some patients. Therefore it is advisable to read the complete information regarding tablets before starting the use. And also consult the doctor in case of appearance any symptoms of an allergy. Redness, rashes, swelling, and hives are a few of the symptoms of an allergic reaction. { It is advisable to take the antacids four hours before and four hours after the medications. { Consult the doctor if you are taking medicines for heartburn, indigestion and ulcers. It is advisable to take it twelve hours before and twelve after taking sofosbuvir and velpatasvir. { Inform the doctor if you are suffering from any liver complications or if you have HIV. { Sofosbuvir and velpatasvir can harm the fetus hence, it is advisable to avoid pregnancy during the treatment. { Sofosbuvir and velpatasvir can interact and hinder the mechanism of some medications like warfarin, carbamazepine, digoxin, esomeprazole, etc. Source URL - https://bijoya.net/stories/7079
