What to Look for When Buying a Chess Set?

    Category: Sports

Choosing the right chess set can be difficult. You can play chess with any set, but it's hard to find the right one for you. Don't waste your money on a set you don't like or worse it will affect your game. Here are some pointers to help you find a set that is convenient to play and within your price range. 1. The most important thing when buying a chess set is the accuracy of those pieces. I mean how well you can separate the queen from the king and so on. All tournament boards use pieces with different styles. Avoid awesome "themed" sets and find something with a simple look. There is nothing more annoying to a chess player than trying to figure out what the piece. In such a game, the owner of the board will undoubtedly benefit from the "home-field" because he has used the set before. I've lost a lot of games to kids who bring themed sets to the chess club and insist on using their board instead of the tournament board. That brings us to our next point... 2. Choose a standard competition set. What are the rules for assembling a tournament chess set? The squares of the chessboard should be 2 1/4 inches from one side to the other and the king 3 3/4 to 4 1/4 inches high. When looking for something, just type "tournament chess set" and you will find it. If you plan to play a lot of games around the house or with a friend, it is not important to look at the standard competition set. Casual chess can be played on any chessboard, but I am accustomed to the size and weight of the competition set. I can't live without one right now. 3. Select a set with loaded pieces. This is serious if you want to play speed chess. When playing games with weightless pieces, especially with a small base, you can expect some accidents. Pieces should not be picked up in the wind or picked up during a fast chess game. 4. If you're playing with it a lot, make sure it's durable. The plastic chess set should be nice and strong enough to last for years. Pieces of wood have a higher risk of scratches and chips than plastics. In this case, however, it is a matter of personal preference and budget. Pieces of wood can be expensive, but they usually look good. Fortunately, low-cost wood sets are more suitable for hitting than the more expensive ones because they are less detailed, resulting in fewer fine edges. Plastic pieces are almost always more durable and less expensive. I would suggest a nice large, durable, weight set of plastic pieces as the first set. 5. Find the ideal board. In the world of tournament chess equipment, there are a few different boards to choose from. The three types of vinyl board, one-piece wood board, and folding wood board are familiar to me and belong to me. If you are traveling and want an easy board for transportation, a vinyl board is a way to go. It's small, lightweight, and portable, not to mention cheap. They may not be the most attractive boards in terms of looks, but if you have less space, they will make up for it. The one-piece wooden board is the next board I would like to discuss. It is made from a solid piece of wood that cannot be folded. This is the least portable chess board, but is ideal if you play mostly at home and don't need to transport your set. Because it is made of wood and has no ugly lines on it, it is very attractive. The folding wood board is the final board I want to discuss. This is a great option if you are looking for a middle ground. If you want portability and a wood board look then this is for you. It's not as portable as vinyl, but it's much better than the usual wooden board. As you can see, each type of board has its charm, but for your first set, due to its incredible portability and low price, I recommend going with a vinyl board. 6. Choose the right chess shop. Find chess online that sell boards, pieces, and whole set. It will be much less expensive and will match everything in terms of size and color. I prefer Precisesports, the Best Chess Board Sets. Everything they make is of one kind and of high quality. In addition, their prices are very reasonable. They have a Vinyl Chess Board Mat that will give you great chess board, pieces. I do not claim to be an expert; I'm just sharing my own chess equipment experience. We didn't even have time to discuss it. I hope I can help you find a better set that fits both your tastes and your budget.
